FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DON'T KNOW MY FRIEND JOEY This is my friend Joey.
Joey and I are crazy fuckers. We went on a month long trip where we ingested copious amounts of drugs and alcohol, and managed to move ourselves about 17,000 kilometers in the process. That's half way around the world. Our new crazy plan is to become publishing moguls. Joey wrote a book, called Lockpick Pornography, which is about queer terrorism, from what I can tell. There are crazy beatings, crazy sex scenes, all sorts of stuff. It's pretty good. But you can read most of it here and make your own decisions.
So yeah, this crazy fucker and I, we're going to publish his book, full colour covers, professionally printed and bound, a real friggin' book. It will be a couple chapters longer than the website version, it might even be illustrated, if we can get a certain amazing illustrator to unbusy himself for us. It's going to be finished and mailed out in the middle of August, if nothing goes wrong. The book is $10 CAN for Canadians and $10 US for Americans, plus $3 shipping. If you order one now while we're pre-selling, as a thank you it'll be signed and numbered out of 200, and come with a special illustrated zine, too.
Alright, that's the pitch. Here's the website: http://www.lockpickbook.net.

I started a blog about rad sneakers and t-shirts to justify all the time I spent on the internet looking at them. There'll be lots of posts about: + cool shirts by small DIYish companies / kids + sneakers of a limited edition / 70's and 80's remake / super blingy nature + crazy electronic web deals on shoes you can't pass up.
Alright. Here it is. No shirt, no shoes? No Service. PS: fuck yeah I'm a dork. |

We are not going to Orlando. The trains are not working as advertised, and we don't have time to wait. Our rough itinerary is as follows, though we can't make every stop, we're going to try and determine which stops will be the most fun! Send us an email, or post letting us know of any options along here we missed. We Amtrak isn't a very efficient system, with trains running every three days some places. We've eaten up a lot of time.
So yes. If you live in any of the following places and want to hang out / put us up for an evening, email me at wewerewerewolves @ aioku.com.
Birmingham, Alabama
Atlanta, GA
(at least one of the following NC stops)
Charlotte, NC
Greensburough, NC
Burlington, NC
Raleigh, NC
Richmond, VA
Washington, DC
New York, NY
If you live in any of those big cities along that area, Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, etc. let us know if you're willing to put us up for a night! We are running out of train time, and we want to end up in New York! Here is a photo of Joey and I in Milwaukee. We had to sleep in a dumpster and it was way cold. Feel bad for us and help us out!
look how cold and handsome these men are.

THIS IS THE WEBSITE : EMPTYAPARTMENTS.ORG.
We're in New Orleans now, heading toward florida tonight. The following is from a week or so ago in Lawrence, Kansas. I recorded the conversation on my digital camera and typed it out on the train.

-sirens-
-muffled thumping-
Mike: Oh shit.
Mike: Sorry. Sorry. We're like, best friends.
Joey: Yeah, we're just playing around.
Cop: Looks pretty serious for just playing around. -something else, unintelligible-
Joey: We're seriously just fucked up.
Cop: Can I see some ID?
Joey: I might've actually left mine. No! Here it is!
Cop: Where's she going?
Joey: She's mormon. She's real nervous around cops.
Cop: -laughs-
Mike: We have a problem with, you know, punching each other in front of cops. But, you know, we probably wouldn't have done it if we knew there were cops.
-pause-
Mike: -nervous laugh-
Cop: So where do y'all live?
Joey: I live in Halifax.
Cop: Halifax? Where's that?
Joey: It's in Nova- It's in Canada.
Cop: Where do you live here in Kansas?
-conversation continues in this manner until our host comes back for us-
Host: You're retarded. Are you serious?
Mike: We're crazy, but it's no big deal.
Host: Come on. Don't kick each other in the street, that's number one. number two, don't punch each other in the street. number three, don't knock each other over in the street.
Joey: We didn't know the cops were there!
Cop: Whether we're there or not, take it home.
Mike: I'm sorry, we're just Canadians. It was a bad thing to do.
Host: Come on, I'll take you somewhere else.
Cop: Find something else to do.
Joey: Alright, thank you officers!
-pause-
Joey: Have a good night!
Host: I kept walking because that was embarassing.
Joey: My ear hurts from you kicking me.
Mike: Kansas, kansas. Only in Kansas. What can they do? We tell them we're from Canada. The fact, uh, our ID is from Canada. They're like "I guess that's what they do there, hit each other in the head."
Joey: You've got a punch in the neck coming to you. I've been saving it up. |

PORTFOLIO FOR EMILY CARR in VANCOUVER got 18 more days to finish this fucker.
On April 28th I leave Vancouver, BC, taking an Amtrak train from Seattle to Milwaukie where I'm meeting up with my friend Joey (who writes a softer world). From there we're going to Portland, then down the coast to Tijuana. After a day or two of debauchery south of the border we're loading up on over the counter pills and switchblades, coming back to the U.S. and heading east to Austin, TX. Then New Orleans, Mobile, and into Florida before turning north and ending up in NYC for the MoCCA comic book festival that Joey need to attend to make lots of money. After that I don't know what I'm going to do. I'll be aimless until september, when school starts. |

I'm driving down to Mexico on Wednesday, but I'm leaving for Vancouver tomorrow afternoon, after I get the van gassed and oiled up. I'll be gone til the 27th, just in time to come home and move from this apartment to one a block and a half down the street. Since my #1 camera is definately out of commision I'll be taking a suitcase full of substitutes; polaroid one step, holga, an old kodak brownie, and a canon ae-1 which is the same model as my first camera ever. Oh, and two 110 cameras, a tiny one for stealth shots and carrying around in sketchico and a big yellow underwater one.
Anyway, until I get back, here's this: a triple exposed print of Tanis from Valentine's Day. It's fucked because the paper I used to cover up the 2/3rds of the sheet that weren't supposed to be getting exposed was too thin, so that explains the dark spots all over the place. The prints are wonky shapes because I cut the three rectangles out of a piece of cardboard in the darkroom with only the safelights on.

+ So my favorite camera is definately broken, and I don't have any money to get a new one right now. I think i'm going to spraypaint it pink and mount it on the wall. In the fall I'll probably replace it, but until then it's down to the dollar store variety for me
+ My magazine has a new website -- http://www.pinemagazine.ca -- and a new store -- http://www.pinemagazine.ca/store.
+ In the store you can order the magazine and there's also a pre-order button for a chapbook of photos I have coming out in a few months. The chapbook has a website too, of course. http://www.aioku.com/aatw.
+ Our next issue is almost ready and to celebrate we've got some t shirts made up with an illustration from the dude who's doing all the illustrations for the whole issue. His name's Andrew Hildreth and the shirt looks something like this:
They're 20 bucks and you can buy them online in the store. They come in XS, S, M, and L. The XS is a pretty decent size for girls who are small.
+ This is the mailing list.

It's the guitar solos that always get me.
(These are photos from last July. Eight dudes, two Marshall stacks, some drums and you know, whatever else. We drove from ocean to ocean spreading heavy metal riffage across the country. We ate a lot of sandwiches, skated a lot of parks, and drank a lot of beer.) |

Yesterday I almost died.
I was climbing around on a little cliff face, my three friends and I were trying to "borrow" a rowboat for a little trip, and getting to the boat was kind of a sketchy process. I was walking along this rather steep part holding onto a big vine or something and it snapped. I fell 8 feet down, backward, down the cliff and landed on my neck in about 3.5 feet of water. 6 inches to the right the water was only about half a foot deep and 6 inches to the left there were huge rocks.
I don't know why I'm still alive, I'm trying to figure out what I'm supposed to do with myself. Something needs to change.
My head and legs are bruised, my hands and shins are cut to shit. I was wearing my favourite, most expensive camera at the time and I'm pretty sure it's fucked.
Holy crap. Holy crap. |

This picture was taken at a truckstop on the highway on the way to montreal. I'm not sure if I auto timed it or my father took it.
This is me, two summers ago. I flew from the Pacific Ocean, where I live, to the Atlantic ocean, where I grew up, to spend a few weeks with old friends and with family. The trip back to the Pacific involved a car ride with my father and nephew to Montreal, where I stayed in a hotel above the Jazz Festival for a few days, sweating and eating 99 cent pizza. I met up with my friend Sarah Michelle who decided to go west with me, so we made a sign that said JUST MARRIED and had a friend of hers drive us 20 minutes out of town to where the highway starts.
Apart from a day of solid rain in Western Ontario where we slept in a car in a junkyard, the whole trip went amazing and we got to Sarah's mom's house in High Level, Alberta in 4 days(!!). In High Level I planned to keep going north to Yellowknife to visit my friend Darren who works for CBC radio up there, but Sarah's mom insisted on buying the two of us Greyhound tickets to Vancouver, and who am I to refuse a free ride. That's all I'd been doing all week.
5000 miles in about a week and a half, and the whole thing cost $20 dollars, not counting the money I spent on beer in Montreal and whiskey on the road.

SHE WEARS BLACK JEANS. I WANT HER TO KISS THOSE BLACK JEANS INTO ME.
Tanis with a 40's wig on and her brains blown out. We rented the sketchiest hotel room we could find to take these pictures. The people who rented it to us thought we were making a porno because of all the cameras and lights we brought in + we said we only needed the room for a few hours. They told us to "make sure we balled up the blankets and put them in the corner when we were done."
This is Taylor at the same shoot. He was doing most of the photos and I was doing lights and makeup. But of course I couldnt help but snap a few myself.
I like this picture because most of Taylor is in focus, but from his elbow to the far left of the photo is all blurry. I have no idea why. Probably I was drunk.

last night.
so as it turns out i didnt stay home last night, chrissie called and told me we were going to a party and who am i to argue that? walked up to her house and listened to the new enslaved album then someone i've never met before drove us to the party. out behind the mall. as it turned out the party was for lame people only, shoes off people, drug dealers, people who dont like their houses messed up, people who like to talk to much when you really have to pee. we left at 11:30 and cabbed back downtown but everyone wanted to go top 40 dancing and i, still without identification, went home. |

couple weeks ago, emily drinking behind the arcade.
i woke up today at 8 am. made sure the internet was. still O.K. and then i called some people. the tour van has been dead for two weeks, i've been walking to work and it's been fine and it's been cold but today i walked up the street and got it fixed. i called andy c. and told him to meet me downtown at 2 where we drank some beer and then went shopping for grey zip up hoodies. afterward we parked downtown and drank two more beer and then played airhockey for a while. i'm home now and it's 7:34 and i've got to get some work done. i'm going to screenprint some whales on something, or some shit like that. whales versus fucking squids. i'm going to listen to the misfits and maybe drink two more beers. i'm going to stay home on saturday and just do it because i lost my wallet with all my ID. |
